Formed in Moscow in 1975 by Pavel Vernikov, Konstantin Bogino and Anatoly Liberman, the Tchaikovsky Trio has brilliantly continued the traditions of the Moscow and St. Petersburg performance schools and has been a prime example for the performance of the Slavonic and Russian chamber music masterpieces for many years now.

Winning the ARD International Competition in Munich (1979), Grand Prix of Vittorio Gui in Florence (1979), and International J.B.Viotti Competition in Vercelli (1991), the Tchaikovsky Trio received international acclaim and performed in over 180 concerts and venues around the world between 1975 and 1978 alone.

Since 1979, the Trio has resided in countries throughout Europe and have since participated in numerous prestigious festivals such as Menton in France, Santander in Spain, Naantali and Kuhmo in Finland, Brescia/Bergamo and MITO Torino-Milano in Italy, «December evenings» of Svyatoslav Richter in Moscow, Russia. Only to name a few, the Trio have performed in the world-renowned Gaveau and Musee d'Orsay in Paris, Wigmore Hall in London, Teatro alla Scala and Conservatorio Verdi in Milan, Herkulessaal in Munich, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Centre in New York, Art Centre in Seoul, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Big Hall of Moscow Conservatory, St.Petersburg Philharmonic Large and Small Halls, along with many others. As soloists, they regularly collaborate with highly celebrated artists such as Tabea Zimmerman, Oleg Kagan, Yuri Bashmet, Natalia Gutman, Misha Maisky, Maxim Vengerov, Julian Rachlin, Anthony Pay, Emmanuel Pahud, Maria Tipo, Yuri Temirkanov, Maxim Shostakovich, and Emmanuel Ax.

A special creative friendship binds the musicians of the Tchaikovsky Trio together with the famous composer Rodion Shchedrin, who dedicated his Piano Terzetto for Violin, Violoncello and Piano them in 1995.

All the members of the Tchaikovsky Trio, including Alexander Chaushian as its cellist since 2009 are all worldrenowned teachers and professors as well as jury members of prestigious international competitions around the world. They are regularly invited to institutions such as the Conservatoire National Superiore of Paris and Lyon, the University and Konservatorium Wien Private University, the Sibelius Academia Helsinki, the Rubin Academia Tel Aviv, and the Musikhochschule Stuttgart.
